Coyote hunting with a stock car (EDIT: graphic pics added)
Joe Gibbs Racing driver Brad Coleman was testing a Gibbs NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car at Toyota Arizona Proving Grounds earlier this week and came onto the radio and told his crew something rather unusual.

"Guys, I hit a coyote," Coleman said.

Coleman was running close to 200 mph around the 10-mile test track when he saw the animal wander under the outside guardrail.

"I'm in the middle of the corner, and I'm doing like 190," Coleman said Friday at Nashville Superspeedway before practicing his Nationwide Series car. "I'm just cruising. You run the high line there, because that's where the most banking is. It's the high-speed lane. There's just a guardrail there like on the freeway.

"I see this thing, it must've been 100 feet in front of me, just jump out... Right when I saw it come out from under the guardrail, I was like, 'That's a coyote.'"

"It just started smoking like crazy," Coleman said. "And it smelled terrible. I didn't see anything in the mirror, so I was like, 'I wonder where it went?' I said, 'Guys, I hit a coyote. I'm going to come in because I think it screwed up the radiator. I think it clogged up the grille a little bit.'"

Now that would be something to see! I've hit a grouse going about 60 mph in a Hyundai Accent...it didn't mess up the radiator though, only bent a few of the cooling fins homer

I'd imagine the coyote wouldn't have felt a thing! shocker

I know that when you hit a skunk 120 you don't smell them at all. clap

I know that at 140 when I the guy behinds you radios you asking if you see all those deer and you haven't seen one your going to fast. Eeker

I know just missing a big buck at 100 is a oh Shit factor.

Missing 5 work horses on a icy road at around 50 gets ones heart up in ones throat also.

Yep I don't think the yote felt a thing.

According to the few old sages here on this board......... this would be viewed as a trick shot from a "high velocity addict that is recoil shy"

Seems to be effective but a real man, not one that is recoil shy, would have used a 16 wheeler rolling down the test track at 200mph. He would have asked Brad Coleman, "Sure you hit one with the light weight smaller caliber speed freak machine, but........... how many were hit and got away?

Thanks for the interesting pictures.

I once hit a big owl while driving a T 800 Kenworth. It hit right at the top of the windshield on the drivers side, had it been 6-8" lower it would have been in the truck with me. It sure woke me up. This was about 1 o'clock in the morning.
Sure made a mess out of that coyote.

Hey R-

Sorry about the delay; I missed your post. It's easy as 1-2-3

1. I right-clicked on the pictures in the email and did the "Save image as..." option.

2. I then uploaded them to photobucket.com

3. I then pasted the text and links to pictures in this post.

Let me know if that wasn't clear enough instructions.

Good luck!
