Long shot rabbit
Hey fellas on Saturday morning 30 april i shot a rabbit with my weatherby 22-250 50grain V-max with 37grain AR2208 pushing it at 3790 ft/sec in the head (eye in fact ) 405m = 445 yards.
I thought that was amazing then a few minutes latter I shot another 570m away 623 yards in the shoulder.
My 22-250 is 0ed for 200m so the 405m shot was 20 clicks up and the 570m shot was 35clicks up.
There apeared to be no wind to speak of but still had about a 100mm drift to the left so the 570m I aimed at its nose and shot it in the chest I couldn't beleive my eyes when it fell over.
These distances are verified with a bushnell range finder and verified by (Taupo Hunter)
SO BEAT THAT ANYONE.

Good shooting .
Most of my shots are 400 yds or less.

Nice shooting but been there done that I can't even count the number of P dogs I shot way out here.

I think that you well find with the serious varmint hunting folks 400 yards is a easy shot 500 yards is do able most of the time with 600 plus do able first round hits about half the time On p dog size targets.

Good shooting TV!
The lack of wind made life much easier for you no doubt and these are great results with a factory rifle.
Especially if these were first shot connects? after dialing elevation.
Have a look at www.longrangehunting.com if you haven't already.
To keep things in perspective there are some extreme long range hits recorded on PD over in the states.[1500yds plus]
Mostly the wind is the limiting factor although at longer ranges small ES of velocity and projectile uniformity have influence on elevation.
You have stretched the range with your current BC with a 50gr VMax that is for sure at 623yds.
BTW what scope are you using on this rifle?

The scope I am using on my weatherby markV 22-250 is a Leoplod VXII 6-18 power with target turrets these are a must.
And yes that 570m shot was a one shot one kill so this makes even better for me (fllluuucckk)

Howdya see that far with all those hills in the way ?

The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.
