Steyr SSG for long range rig?
I have been thinking about putting together a long range rig in .308 for some time.
Today I came across an SSG for abour $1200US, with almost no useage.

I don't like the stock on it, but McMillan have replacements on the shelf inletted and finished, so that wouldn't be a great problem.

Could I go wrong with what is considered to be one of the most accurate out of the box tactical rifles around?

Back in the 80's I had a double set trigger model w/green stock and iron sights. It was amazingly accurate and I regret ever parting with it. If you want a long range .308, the SSG is an excellent way to go. I'm sure you won't regret it.

Good Shooting,

Most SSG's shoot very good. Mine shot 168 and 180gr bullets very well.
With the rear locking lugs they can be hard on brass if loaded hot. [case stretch]
