First stupid question
Shot a little trap with a couple of fellers this past weekend; I know this isn't the shotgun forum. Anyway, both were shooting release triggers because they said it helped alleviate flinching and jerking the trigger. This got me to thinking (not always a good idea)
Has anyone out there ever tried to install some kind of a release trigger on a dedicated prairie dog rifle? I think it would be unsafe in anything other than a stationary bench type set up. I know there are triggers that will go down to 2 ozs., but a lot of people can't or shouldn't shoot that light of a trigger, especially if they have developed a slight flinch over time. I've never heard of such a thing, have any of you? It seems like a foolish question, but I promise it will not be the last! Big Grin JP

My opinion would be that the release trigger is a BAD idea for a rifle period.
once you have depressed this type of trigger the gun Will Go Off. The only thing you can alter at this point is when it will discharge and where the rifle will be pointed.
For shotguns being used at a trap range, the above is not as critical. The shotguns very limited range, compaired to a rifle, combined with the known presentation of an inaminate target, and the dedicated "impact" area make the release trigger workable.
