Fawn calls, or turkey calls. Shot one in the face a couple mornings ago with number 5 shot at 7 yards. He thought he was gonna have turkey for breakfast.

During the summer, we never actively hunted coyotes. They were targets of opportunity. When it got real cold, then they were called, ambushed, stalked, etc. I used to love to stalk close on a coyote sunning itself on a haystack and take him with an iron-sighted revolver. I made my ammo and gun money when the fur was prime and the market good. Now I hear the fur market is making a comeback despite the bunny-huggers. RKBA!

Any of you hunt out west during the summer. Have you tried the turkey calls?

I have in times of high population hunted in July and Aug. You only get an hour or two of calling at dawn and dusk because of the summer heat. Most of the time I lay off calling and shooting coyotes from March to Sept. because of the pups. Anyway it leaves more for fall and winter. When I lived in S.Ariz. I always make a 4TH of July hunt and killed dogs every 4TH for years. Call em in close_____Pete
