In the topic "Would you but a Savage" they talk mainly about the varmint series rifles, what does everyone think about the lighter and even less expensive hunter series, 11F, 11FC, 11G. And the package series 10GXP3, 11FXP3, and 116FXP3.

Ive got a modle 11 in 243 and love it I did some trigger work to it and consistantly shoot groundhogs at 300yds with factory ammo Savage has been the most accurate gun I have ever had

I replied to the original post you spoke of. I just put the finishing touches on my 11GL in 7-08. I replaced the factory trigger with a Sharp Shooter. I replaced the stock with a synthetic, also from Sharp Shooter. The bore is rough and fouls quickly, even after fire lapping.

The good news, it shoots great, dispite the rough barrel. It was probably a fluke, but I fired a three shot 200 (yeah 200) yard group that measures .351. The target is on my wall of exceptions in the garage.

It's ugly, you have to clean the barrel often, but this sporters weight rifle shoots like a target weight rifle.

How would I get my hands on the sharpshooter products that you talk about?

I am in the process of turning an 11gy into a do-all rig. I have a 223WSSM sporter barrel on order for it, and will either sell the original 300WSM barrel towards a 35WSM barrel, or keep it (depending how bad the tax-man gets me this year). Coyotes to elk switch barrel rig. For me, the factory wood club works fine (big feller with big hands), so I decided to put more money in the barrels.

The sporter contours make a lot more sense for carry rifles. JMO, Dutch.

I purchased a 110 in 30-06 just for the action.
This gun looks like it was abused for some time the stock is scratched most of the finish is gone the barrel has rust pitting etc.

The gun shoots inch groups at 100yards I think I'll keep mister ugly.

I have the heavy Varmint rifle you first mentioned. I only posting this to attest to the Sharpshooter trigger I put in. FANTASTIC!! It's set at 16oz., no creep or travel. It's the ONLY thing a Savage rifle needs.

I've got a 111g in 243 and I love it. The trigger is a little stiff but with a 85 grain bullet its awesome for varmits and with a 100 grain core- lock it does the job with deer also.

I've got the 12FVSS in .223 with a Sharpshooter set at 1.5 lbs. Very accurate, seems to clean up real well. Best group 60g Sierra HP's 5 shots covered by a dime @100yds.

Friend bought one of the combo packages in 243. Great shooter, triggers a bit stiff but thats normal for a factory gun. Good value for the money.

My basic 110 Savage with the .270 winchester 22" factory barrel installed shot a .4" group with factory power points this after noon. Not a selected target either as it is the first group I've ever shot with it.
