EnglanderCZ 550 Varmint
Hello from Scotland~
Im looking for a heavy barrel rifle for fox and vermin, i also im on a budget (my wive says)so im looking for reasonable priced rifle.
I can get a new CZ 550 varmint new for 250 less than a Remington.............
According to there web site it comes in .243/.308/.22-250
Anyone here got any experience of these rifles ? Or should i be looking for a second hand Rem/Tikka/etc ??

dantecCZ varmint is a good rifle , just if you compare to a REM a WIN or a Savage there are no after market equipement ( trigger , stock .... ) and very limited choice in scope mount execpt that CZ rifle are strong and new product have a better finish than the older 600/601/602 action .
My personal choice for low cost rifle and accurate rifle out of the box is the SAVAGE 110 ( long action tactical ( composite stock ) laminated is more costly , sure that the rifle is not pretty but accuracy are more than good and often very good and chamber dims are SAAMI not CIP so a bit tighter .
scope mount are made by lot of company and you can use weaver base/rings ,and after trigger are available and after market stock too
Tikka are very good too but that difficult to find a lower cost rifle than a SAVAGE .
from where are you in Scotland , Border or Highland ?
good shooting

MikelravyI like the CZ rifles a lot. I am thinking of getting the small action model in .223 for a walking around and predator calling rifle. Does anyone here have any experience with these?

<DLS>I would personally go with the CZ 550 over the Rem 700. Then use the extra money for a scope, or ammo. I have both, and both are very accurite.

small CZ in 222/223 are pretty small rifle , I have blue print several action and rebarrel some in 300 Whisper .
accuracy out of the box is not amazing but with some work that work well and make a very lght package for walkng varmint .
Good shootng
