chuckdusterCooper Rifles???
I am looking to hear from owners or past owners of Coopers and what you think of them pro or con. Im am thinking of ordering a Montana Varminter this winter chambered in Tactial 20. I just wanted to hear what some Cooper OWNERS have to say about them. I dont mean to come accross rude but I dont need the view point of those who have no experiance with them or those that know of someone who has had one. Thanks guys all info is appreciated.

sakofanI held one yesterday, a .223 Varminter, I believe.
I want one so bad, my tonuge is hard. But, the stock on that rifle feels a little short.
I tried anougher Cooper. I dont remember the model, but it was a 22-250. It felt short as well. My friend that was with me concured.
Tried a Kimber, and it felt right on.
The saleman measured from the trigger to the end of the stock, and it was 13" (The Cooper)
I still will have one..sakofan..

SpudzI have a M21 varminter in .223 Ackley,it routinely groups 1/4" or better if I do my part.
I love it, if I could figure out what I needed
another one for I would get it, they are great.

DigitalDanSuperb rifles. All facets may be customized upon order if you desire. Perhaps their only shortcomming is that they are single shot but that would be in the eyes of the beholder. They generally shoot better than the shooter's capabilities.

Jay GorskiI've got a LVT in 22lr. and yes the LOP maybe a little short, although never really complained about, you can order one with a longer LOP, albiet at a little more cost, but they are well made rifles, and very accurate, with very nice triggers, no lawyers in Montana I guess.

Whittaker guns I just sold mine, almost wish I didnt but had other plans for the money.

Bought mine from Whittaker (since I had to buy mail order anyway). They gave me good service, not always as communicative as I'd like, but service was good. Prices also seemed better than anything else I found on the Web.

JB in SCI have a .222 Classic that groups most anything under .5" @ 100 yards. I had plans to sell it and buy a Cooper rimfire, but came to my senses and decided to keep it. It's a very pretty little rifle and the most accurate centerfire I've ever owned. The craftsmanship is excellent.

Rich AndersonI have a varmint extreme in 223 and when I can afford it will get another in 22/250. Its my (at least one of them) rifle for prarie dogs. These are truly excellent rifles but be careful as they shoot so well you'll want another one.
PS Did you move? I have talked with someone using chuckduster from Middelton or that area who shoots sporting clays and trap in Ashly. Is that you?

<TERMINATOR>I have two Montana varminters. .221 Fireball and .17 Mach IV. Couldn't ask for a better gun. I shoot both a lot, almost never clean them in the field and always expect what I am aiming at to blow up. I'm more than happy with them. Well worth the price.

AlanCI owned a Cooper. They are Accurate, but not to the degree of the target they send. You can build a accurate gun from a Remington action that will shoot every bit as well at a better price.

DMCI*Just took delivery of a Model 57 Cooper in .17HMR yesterday that I had ordered about a month ago.
When it came in the store put it on display and three or four people offered to buy it. It seems that once somebody sees one, its all over!
I just have to have a scope rail made for it and I will be in business. So far, I like what I see a lot. Wood is absolutely beautiful as is the metal work.
It will be shooting varmints next summer.

Alan, Thing about the target they send with the rifle is as you know it's shot indoors, which will make quite a difference, along with the 36x Leupold, Federal Ultra match, and the fact they don't let the rifle out the door until it shoots 1/8" or better at 50yds.,(22lr) they guarantee 1/4" or better at 50yds with Fed. Ultra Match, and I almost get that with cheap ammo, like SK/Jagd Standard Plus and Wolf Match Target, I've even got under 1/2" at 100yds. on a calm day. Once you put a custom barrel on a Remington, true the action, Jewell trigger, bed the action, etc.etc. that should be way more than what I paid for my Cooper, or no.

DCMI, My LVT 22lr looks very similar to that one, tiger stripes all over, and it's just grade A wood too. Jay

I agree with Jay on this one. Why pay $1500.00 for a built Remington, when you can get a Coop, and have it all for less than that??..sakofan..

John BoyOne reason I would go with Remington is the desire for a repeater...That is my preference in a varmint gun
