AdictedRem m700 sps/vtr vs. tikka t3 lite
A little guidance here would be helpful! Not sure which gun to get. I have been looking at the vtr and sps but also like the tikka t3 lite. All guns chambered in 22-250! Give me your thoughts!

gumboot458I,m quite UNDERWHELMED with my 700 VTR in 223 ... It jams pretty regular , it isn,t very accurate .. Hard pressed to get 1.5 " group @ 100 yrds . And the trigger isn,t my idea of a good trigger ... I was hoping for something comperable to the Savage Accu Trigger , or at least as good as the Ruger M77 mk II VT ... Nope .. and unreliable in the cold ......................I would prefer a much more vertical grip on a varmit rifle also ..

for the VTR.

BuliwyfI quite like the Remington XR-100 and the Savage Long Range Precision Varmint Right-Bolt Left-Port.
Savage offeres both the standard twist and a fast twist for the .22-250.

AdictedI was looking at the VTR at a dealer show and it seemed nice but had not talked to anyone who shot it.
I like the tikka t3 lite but is it to light? I will not be hunting PD. Mainly Cats/Dogs. So i will not be shooting a lot as I would with PD.
Not sure where to go with this one?

gumboot458I guess I need o try the 70 gr TSX . that would be a great bullet .. But for my 1 in 9 twist I don,t know if it will stabilize ........
A fast twist 22 250 would be great for handloading ....Shoot 80 gr bullets or there abouts .... Buck the wind real well ..

Calif. HunterI use a Tikka T-3 Lite in .243 with either 70 gr Sierras or 75 gr V-Maxs. Either give me groups under 3/4-inch and many at or under 1/2-inch. This is a calling rifle, not a prairie dog rifle, though I sometimes use it while letting another rifle cool off.

I would prefer the Tika over the Remington and a Savage over all of them.

1:9 twist is meant for 69grn to 75 grn bullets. Unless those TSXs are unusally long the twist is perfect for them.

TEANCUMI would look hard at the sps and then I would toss the stock as soon as I bought it and put on a Boyd's laminated one. The SPS stock is so flexible and the tip it's funny.
