hivelosityCYOTE HUNTING IN OHIO
didnt want to hijack barts post so I thought I would ask.
what method do you use to hunt in the northeast part of ohio,? I will try about any thing to get a shot.
the other day I picked up a road kill coon staked it to the ground along a trail where I had seen some tracks and circled out wide and cane in down wind, waited for a while and didnt see anything. i did this for a week and refreshed the bait a couple times because most of it was gone. i think I may have been spookin them when i was circling out wide. i walked back up the trail about 60 yards and turned and one went across the trail. I sat down in some bushes and waited a few minutes and a young mangy humped up yote came out and i shot it.
I tried for another week on the other one and didnt have any luck.

billmOver in the northwestern part of Ohio we use preditor tapes like a rabbit in distress or a mouse squker. Also its after dark with a full moon on snow , works pretty good. Goodluck Bill

I am pretty feed up with farming, land clearing and the amount of people. Been a while sence we have been your way, a few years ago we would spend alot of time around Grand Maris and Seney

hivelositywell went out huntin yesterday afternoon with A friend for a couple hours the farmer said he had a cyote in his yard a couple days ago.
We made two set up on both ends of the farm.
We were using mouth calls, squeelers and a couple diffrent cyote howlers. Didnt see a thing. really nice evening though. the fellow I hunted with has an electronic caller but it in the shop.
What do you use for an electronic call?
May have to get one.

Dave KattDMB and billm, I know where C-ville is. I live near New Knoxville. Personally I hunt coyotes alone on a snowy night with a mouth call. But, I have had luck during the day as well.

buckoBe careful with the howlers,,I tend to find that they will bring in the dominant male but will cause everything else to shy off.
