Which 25-06 bullet?
I am just starting to reload for my 1-11" 25-06 Encore. I want 75 gr to maybe 87 gr just for varmint. I have loaded a few Hornady 75gr HP w/IMR 4350 with decent results but want to try a different bullet. Any suggestions? Thanks

The Nosler 85 grain Ballistic Tip is tough to beat in terms of both accuracy and terminal performance. My second favorite is the Hornady 87 grain SP. You can't go wrong with either.

My suggestion is a Hornady 75 grain V-Max loaded over IMR 4831.

This combination works great for me. I also had good groups using H 4350. I settled on IMR 4831 because it is the powder I use for the 100 grain bullets in this gun. Keep it simple!

Hornady 75gr V-Max for me.
H4350 powder, Rem. brass and primer. The data for this combination comes right off the H4350 powder can. Highest velocity and best accuracy in my gun.
In Wyoming this past summer, I scored a triple on prairie dogs using this load. Huge fragmentation.

Why not try some 120's. Those darn varmints won't feel a thing.

The most accurate bullet, and I mean one ragged
hole type accuracy, is with 85 gr. Nosler Ballistic
tips. I stumbled on some Combined Technology
85 gr. Ballistic tips, which is the Nosler 85 gr.
BT, with some black lubricant, like Moly, coating.
They are also VERY accurate in my Tikka M695,
.25-06 Rem. I haven't tried the 75 gr. Horandy
Vmax bullets, yet but intend to. I just haven't
seen the need to while I have this stock of
85 gr. Noslers. It is hard to imagine a bullet
performing better, out of a stock factory rifle.
