Identify Idiana Jones' Smith & Wesson?

In "Raiders of the Lost Ark" Indiana Jones uses a Smith & Wesson "N" frame revolver. I believe it has no underlug or lanyard ring. It could be a commercial model 45 ACP that uses Auto Rim cartridges, a 44 Special, a 38 Special, or a 38/44. Since I do not recall him reloading or shucking empties, I don't know for sure.

Does anyone know -- for sure?
