I just put a wonderful comedy, "Father Goose," on pause to ask a question. Trevor Howard's assistant Stebbings, portrayed By Jack Good, is wearing different shoulder boards than Howard - the reason why I am pretty sure I'm looking at rank difference.

Stebbings boards have what my first glance took to be a Star of David ("Jewish Star" or six-pointed star). I wasted 15 minutes trying to catch a glimpse of Trevor Howard's shoulder boards to verify they matched Stebbings'. They don't. They have an almost scalloped appearance.

Either from your viewing of the movie, or knowledge of R.A.N. officer's shoulder boards, circa March 1942, what is Stebbings' rank?

I saw Father Goose in the 50's starring Cary Grant. You might want to google it. I have found sound scores from the 20's + 30's doing that.Best of luck.

Never mistake motion for action.

While I'm not going to view the movie to verify, thank you for identifying Stebbings as a R.A.N.R. Lieutenant.
