Gotta give him credit, especially since he never could sing, still tours most of the year, must be worth billions. A secret is he is actually fairly conservative in his political views and always was. Did participate in civil rights but couldn't be coaxed into some of the other socialist/communist bullshit.

One of the greatest songwriters of the late 20th century. A poet of incredible insight. I have been a fan since the early '60s and still am today. Robert Zimmerman is an incomparable talent who has written and played music in almost every genre from gospel to folk, from country to rock. Wise beyond his years, he turned down Joan Baez when she wanted him to protest publicly against the war (Vietnam). All his greatest hits CDs are in my cars CD changer.

Bringing It All Back Home & Highway 61 Revisited have been on my playlist since they came out, never get tired of those. Even my father liked them.

What you meant to say is his voice disturbs you, not his songs.

His songs have been recorded by such varied artists as Johnny Cash, Sonny & Cher and the Beatles, just to mention a few you might have heard of. There are likely songs he wrote which have been recorded by other artists over the past 50 years that you like and never knew they were written by Bob Dylan. You obviously have no idea what constitutes his body of work.

But thanks for your intelligent musical evaluation. bewildered

Dylan does a one hour radio show on Sirius radio that is the best show on radio.
He mostly plays obscure music that I never heard before. Most of the recordings are from his own collection. His personal music vault has to be the size of a Super Walmart.
His knowledge of music is amazing. Also sounds like a regular guy. Well a regular guy that is worth billions. I think he still does about 150 shows a years.
His fans see him as a god. I think he sees himself as just a trubador.

I like Dylan, although he's not exactly my favorite artist. I like several of his songs which were more of a commercial success: "Like a Rolling Stone", "Positively 4th Street", "Rainy Day Women #12 and #35", and "Lay Lady Lay."

He seems to be pretty laid back in a quiet sort of way. Never heard anything particularly bad pertaining to him, which is unusual.

In his "Christian" phase Dylan came out with some great lyrics -- at least his teacher had great theology (whoever was discipling Bob). He reverted to Jewishness and when I saw him on TV a few years after doing "All Along the Watchtower", he was so gone you couldn't possibly understand the words. I like(d) "You Gotta Serve Somebody" in particular.

Saw him at St James' Park here in the UK back in the '80s.
Carlos Santana played several numbers with him - memorable stuff.

I'm not a big fan of Dylan as a performer but agree he is an outstanding writer.

One of my favorite Dylan songs performed by someone else.

I am not much a fan of Dylan's singing but his writing is unmatched.

This is one of my favorite Dylan tunes done by a decent vocalist. Irony....

My mom turned me onto Dylan when I was in high school. Great stuff. Then she bought me the Biograph box set when it came out. Thats how I learned about The Band, and watching "The Last Waltz" blew me away at 16. I cut a bunch of lawns and washed alot of cars to buy an old Stratocaster because I had to play like Robbie Robertson.

The Band was great and so is Dylan. The two together is still some of the best music I have ever heard. Just Magic.

BTW, Robertson's latest album, "How To Be Clairvoyant" is outstanding.

Loved his Christian phase albums. He at least had a good teacher -- lyrics are quite clear and insightful, unlike listening to whatever he was actually saying when doing "All Along the Watchtower" after reverting to Judaism (t.v. show).
