Drunken posters

onefunzr2Drunken posters
Imbibing alcohol seems to be a constant topic here on AR.
On many occasions I have wondered if the poster was drunk.

Fess up. Would you be in danger of failing the .08% American national blood alcohol limit? Or even worse for those like me who possess commercial driver licenses, .04%

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

CrazyhorseconsultingJust curious here, but just because someone makes a post/comment that departs from what someone else believes is the gospel, does that mean they are possibly drunk or on drugs?

ted thornSome of the things said here (AR) would warrant one to ponder if the person is old enough to drive...let alone drink.

That sounds a lot more reasonable than thinking some one is drunk.
I hate to keep harping on this, but what has become so wrong with free, independent thought?
Why do some folks feel that everyone should be in "Lock Step" on everything.

ted thornI have paid for free speech many times in my life.....I try to think before I speak.
It doesn't always work out though.
I read post here just about every day and ask myself "Why"
Crazyhorseconsulting, you represent a business.
Do you worry that free speech has ever cost you a client or two here on A.R.?

CrazyhorseconsultingNo Ted, I can't say that I have. If I am wrong, I am wrong.
Fact is, a hunter is hiring a guide/outfitter/PH, or should be, because of their abilities, not their opinions.
Lots of folks have asked me that question Ted, and my standard answer, is thaty if my opinion on a subject on an internet chat room is the deciding factor on booking with me or not, I would not want that persons business.
I do not depend on my guiding to pay my bills, I do it because i like it and it gives me a chance to be out hunting.
The clients I have had off of AR have all been great folks and many of them stay in touch with me, and I would be happy to share a campfire with any of them any time, any where.
Do we discuss the BS issues in camp that we do here on the site, no.
Some folks are adults, and understand that the internet, in all of its glory, is a very sterile/emotionless place.
What would be taken as a joke or just a fireside opinion after a days hunt, is taken completely out of context on this faceless/emotionless medium.
Since you asked this question Ted, is that why you have never booked with me?
We have exchanged pm's concerning hunts over the past couple of years, I would like to believe that we have not been able to work something out simply because I don't have a hunt that you are really interested in, or is it that me being able to have and express my own opinion on a subject offends you in some way?
Not to offend you, but I ain't kissing anyone's ass just to try and get a hunt booked.
People, including guides/outdfitters/PH's, have the same right to their opinions and the ability to express those opinions as any of their clients or possible clients do.
When people book with me, they are paying for my abilities and knowledge in hunting the species they are interested in, not my opinions on the internet.

I am glad to hear that, even though I think if I ever did have something you wanted to hunt, we would have a good hunt.

jb, it is when people do agree with me that I start worrying. I just express my opinions on a subject and how I feel por think abouty that subject at that particular point in time. That opinion may change for the worse or better as time goes by.
I have noticed however over the past few years, that, many people don't really want to hear an honest open opinion, and if it is not PC or in Lock Step with the "popular" beliefs on the subject, so much the worse.
Maybe it is just where I grew up, the time I grew up in, the people I grew up around, but as I have stated before on this site, my normal social group, judges a person by their actions and deeds, not by their opinions.

I don't think I, or anyone else, could drink enough of Busch Non-alcoholic, <.5% alcohol by volume, near beer to get any kind of drunken buzz. That's all my doctor allows me.
What about you? How many fingers of hard stuff do you consume while entertaining us here at AR? And then you start blabbering about other folks.

sam308I don't intentionally post while intoxicated, but some topics/threads are just a lot more interesting when I've had a cocktail or two.
I do believe that Gunbroker should have some kind of sobriety test before I am allowed to place a bid.

CrazyhorseconsultingI have seen this same basic topic brought up on regional forums.
Usually it questions whether a person is drunk or on drugs, because of a post or comment they made.
I wonder why it is, people have gotten away or seem to be offended by another person's ability for free thought or being able to prsent hypothetical questions/comments?

Expect ad hoc and slightly leftfield posting hence.

Dave, why would you think I was talking about you???
And, I don't drink(except Clausthaler, also a <.5 brew). Maybe you can pull up one of the posts in which you believe I was drunk while "entertaining" everyone here at AR, and then blabbering about other folks.
I do my best to only make an ass of myself when it is absolutely required.
But maybe you can prove me wrong?
I'll be waiting to see what you come-up with......
