I was a drummer for 12 years, then I realized I just had to do something different because their werent that many steady jobs paying good money. Also I knew I would never be as good as Cozy Cole, Gene Kruppa or Buddy Rich.
Raised up on Swing music from the 40's, this acid rock and the drugs did not set well with me at all. Love to listen to a good drummer and finally sold my Slingerland set to my insurance man for his son in highschool. I had some great memories for sure.
Now for those that never saw Ed Shaunessey play drums in that band of Doc Severinson have missed a great show. Now when Buddy Rich came on the show, Johnny Carson would always get him to play solo and NOBODY was better than Mr. Buddy Rich, Gene Kruppa was a close second. Buddy could take just a base, tom and snare drum pluse two cymbels and make more great sound than any two other drummers together. Now don't take my word, you just check out the facts. In tune with Mr. Babe Ruth in basesball or Ted Williams..........A real hall of famer Rich was in his time.
Ted, the last time I played down at Semo was in the Purple Krackle Night Club a long time ago.
