NaphtaliMy best 25-man Major League baseball roster - players I personally have watched
The best 25-man roster I have
personally watched. With few exceptions, all will be from National league because that's what I watched. And yes, I ceased interest in professional and collegiate sports in the mid-1980s. These may not be the best "stats" players. Nevertheless, they were winners, and have a synergy as a roster.
Staring pitcher - Warren Spahn, Sandy Koufax, Whitey Ford, Tom Seaver, Juan Marichal, Bob Gibson
Relief pitcher - Bruce Sutter, Hoyt Wilhem, Elroy Face
Outfield - Stan Musial, Willie Mays, Henry Aaron, Lou Brock,
Infield - Joe Morgan, Ozzie Smith, Mike Schmidt, Dave Concepción, Maury Wills, Jim Gilliam, Ron Santo
Catcher - John Bench, Tim McCarver,
Swing player - Pete Rose, Frank Robinson, Ernie Banks

Idaho SharpshooterJust give me Bob Gibson and Ted Simmons. Any other 23 will work. Okay, Pujols at first to take the throw, and Stan the Man in short center in case somebody actually hits a ball off of Gibby.

TWallI saw many of those play in person. I grew up a Cubs fan and would take the El down to Wrigley. It was always easy to buy tickets the day of the game then. I went to a few games at the old Comiskey Park too.
