BriceMy great uncle gave me my great grandfather's Ithaca 12 ga double. It is bored mod and IC, 26" barrels. I was about 14, and nobody in the family hunted then. It was heavily used in the Klammath, and the checkering was nearly gone. He was a market hunter, back in the day. I had the good sense to have the stock restored a few years later, even though I couldn't afford it. The work was done by Bill English, a fine local Seattle gunsmith. Bill had a shop on the sixth floor of Frederick and Nelson's, a Marshall Field's department store. Imagine that today. It would be like Nordstrom or Macy's having a gun room. Of course, in those days Eddy Bauer was a Seattle spoting goods store. I remember going in to slaver over the fine English shotguns. EB outfitted Himalayan expeditions. The quality of their gear would compare well with the stuff we have today. EB was acquired sometime in the 70's and moved to a fancy downtown location. For awhile they sold fishing gear and such. When they closed that down in favor of clothing for city types, I bought a Swarovsky 10 x 40 bino at the cloesout. Still have it and of course, Great Gandpa Bryce McKormick's Ithaca.

Idaho SharpshooterWest of there a little, as I recall. The food was terrible and the waitresses were really ugly!
I never went back.
