RIP, Earl
At an 80th birthday party for Scruggs in January 2004, Porter Wagoner said: "I always felt like Earl was to the five-string banjo what Babe Ruth was to baseball. He is the best there ever was, and the best there ever will be."

That rendition of Cripple Creek is from the "Foggy Mountain Band" album, we had it in our home when I was a boy.

What I liked most about him is he played clean, coherently, and didn't like to tear it up tempo-wise.

He's gone home:

My favorite CD is "American Made, World Played."

He could make a banjo sing...
