I have the lansky system, the angle is wrong, I don't know about others.
I have the Light Hunter (not cleaver) and like it quite well, I also have the camp knife, muskrat and cub caper. All very nice to use.

M1TankerI can tell you that D2 hols an edge VERY well. I just had a custom drop point made drom D2 and I dont know that I will ever buy a blade that is not D2 again. I posted this pic before but here it is again.
It is a little more difficult to sharpen over 440C or AUS8 but it is well worth the effort.

BIG SAMI am looking forward to using my new knives this season. I am particularly interested in seeing how they hold up during the skinning process.
I'll report back once I have had some experience with them.

The stainless Master Hunter is made of AUS-8. Mine has served me well however D2 will hold an edge much better. AUS-8 has .75% carbon and D2 has 1.5% carbon , twice as much !! Once you use D2 you'll never look back to AUS-8 .

okay,,,but can a guy forge it?...can I do my own heat treating with few tools?
