DaKotahRe: Who are the top knife makers...?
DMCI
I have been looking at knife designs like the one you have posted. There is a knife that looks 'sort of' like yours in the back of the book HOW TO MAKE KNIVES By Loveless.
I do have a question that I always wanted to ask the guy who owns such a knife.
QUESTION: I plan to make a knife that looks much like the one you own, I have not yet decided on the design for the area just ahead of the finger guard.
I believe this area on the knife is called the Ricasso, and I note on yours that this area has a cool looking cut-out. However If you were to advice me on my own design, would you so advice me to change the design to allow a finger to be placed ahead of the guard for more control?
This would mean a slight change in the size of the cutout area. Do you think a change for finger placement in this area could help in the general field use of my knife?

djpaintlesLow end price try a Cold-Steel Master Hunter, or SRK, very tough, take excellent edge, will definately rust.
Mid range, try a Fallkniven F1, It would still shave hair after it dressed my elk last year
Higher Range -Hunting buddy begged me to buy my Bob Dozier knife after loaning it to him while butchering deer - superb cutting tool. Chris Reeves knives are beautifully made and hell-for-Stout if you want to cut and pry you might look at these...
