p dog shooterOne good knife
As In am getting ready to go bear hunting. I started to think about my knife.
It started around 1980.
My Dad brought two Remington brand made in the USA R3 big game knifes.
They have one knife blade one gut hook saw blade.
One he gave me the other was put in a drawer.
All most lost mine. It was left stuck into a tree at the site of a friends bear kill.
. Having the kill site marked on my GPS. I was able to go back the mile or so off the road and recover it.
Dad was in the waning years of hunting. I was entering into my prime.
It seemed when Dad shot a deer I or one was the grandchildren was there to take care of it for him.
When Dad died the unused knife was given to my son.
Years later my son and I were comparing the two knifes.
The blade on his knife was substantially wider.
Mine having field dressed hundreds of head of big game.
I found this knife to retain a edge fairly easy to sharpen.
Non rusting It has been left in the case covered with blood more then once for months.
With out damage no pitting just some discolorations on the brass liners and bolsters.
The blade once again is sharpened wearing it down a bit more.
Again this fall bear and deer well be field dress.
It has been a good knife doing it's job through use and abuse for 40 plus years
I can say without question it has been a

Jerry FiskA good knife can be a steady companion if you take care of it. It can be the most important thing in your kit. You will use a knife,Whether gun, bow, spear or even killed with a rock.

Jerry FiskThey were made by Camillus as a private lable for Rem. Private lable was their biggest biz. Funny at times they made a few Case, Buck, sears, Cold Steel, Remington, etc etc.
