Hondo64dHere's a couple of more combos my .308 likes. OAL includes a sincalir "hex nut" bullet comparitor. These are about .030" from the lands in my rifle.
The 43.5 chronos at 2662, 44.5 at 2701.

Thank you very much.
It is surprising how many "45 gr. of RL15 for a 165 gr bullet" load recommendations there are floating around out there with no mention of the max load. Typical.
The Alliant guide I have shows 45.5 grains of Re15 as max with a 165 bullet and the Nosler I have shows 46 grains. The Speer guide I have shows 49 grains as max with a 150.
The best I found is Re15 with 45.5 in a 150 partition and 45 in a 165 Sierra or Nosler.

DuggaBoyeStumbled into a BenchMark loading in my Blaser LRS2. Was loading this powder in my 6PPC and on a lark loaded the "dose" listed on the front of the bottle (which I normally never even look at).
It is 42.0 behind a moly 168 Hornady match 168hpbt in a Rem match case, CCI BR2, COAL 2.850.
Darned if it didn't make one ragged hole at 100.
No muss, no fuss .
Why couldn't I have had loads like this "handed to me" when I was competing.

owensbyThis is some target loads I shot yesterday with my savage target rifle.I screwed up on the 150gr berger load it was 46.5 instead of 47 grs.
Below that are some groups shot with the hornady 110 v-max at 100 yds.You may want to try these.
The best shooting/hunting .308 Win load for my .308 Browning A-Bolt is 44.0 grs./ IMR-4064/ 150 grain Hornady spire points. All loaded in Winchester cases with standard LR primers. Five-shot groupings @100 yards are < .250" on a good shooting day.

HTDUCK50 grains of H380 under a 150 Sierra BTSP.WLR primer and a Win case.Last deer the wife shot with this load did a complete sideways summersault and end up entagled in the fenceline it was walking down at the time.It was a 105 yard shot.
47 grs H380 under a 175 SMK gave up a 5 shot group that was under a dime at the two hundred yard line.Loaded in a Win case with a Fed 210 match primer.
Been playing with Varget and 165 Accubonds here
in the last week.I'll get back to ya'll with more details after I get to the range Saturday afternoon.

I've read somewhere that more and more people are going to Varget for powder, any comments?
Varget powder, Lapua match brass, 165 - 178 gr. bullets, 1:12" twist. Benchrest.com "Benchrest Central" has some load data for the .308 Win.
This seems the formula -- it works for me. But then you get into leade, lands, seating, bullet types, bullet jump/seating, barrel weight, tuners, headspace, chambers.
If it were simple you'd be able to buy it over the counter at Wal-Mart.
G'day Fellas,
Just thought I would add my pet load for my .308.
I run 155 grn Sierra Match Kings or Berger 155.5 Full-Bore projectiles with 45.5 grns of VV N150. I use CCI BR primers.
I also use Lapua 155 grn Scenars.
I am receiving muzzle velocities of 2815 fps with a variation at most of 8 fps between each shot. Groups sizes quarter of an Inch at 100 and sub-minute of angle at 200. My Fiance also recently belted out a 4.5 Inch group at 600.
All this with Federal Brass and an Old Mauser.
Regards
Sean
