Good Morning gentleman
I just purchased my first large bore a CZ550 in 416 Rigby. If you would be so kind as to post your favorite loads for that specific rifle.
Thank you

mstarlingNorma brass, 98.0 gr AA4350, FED 215 primer; 350 gr Barnes X gives me a velocity of 2700 fps and 5600 PFE.
Load works fine for Bison and Cape Buffalo ... and anything smaller.
Same load w 350 gr Speer MagTip for practice.

416TanzanFor all around use, including buffalo and any-range hartebeest I use the following:
416Rigby CZ 550 Safari magnum with 25" barrel
Hornady brass 416Rigby
Fed 215Match magnum primers
350 grain TTSX Barnes bullets
101.5 grains Alliant Reloder 17
Velocity 2820fps checked over two chronographs.
That load puts out 6200ftlbs, so it is in the class of the factory loaded 505Gibbs.
The primers are rounded and fine and the cases slip out. the Rigby is a case that can handle much more than it is normally loaded for. The new CZ rifles are strong and reliable, so handloaders can basically extract 416Weatherby ballistics from the Rigby.

NakihunterI got the exact rifle with Kevlar stock in early 2013. Posted a fair amount about it including slicking up the rough bolt.
I have tried a variety of bullets - Woodleigh 410 gr RN, & 340 gr PP, Barnes TSX 350 gr & 400 gr RN solid, Hornady 400 gr RN (not the DGX) for practice, Speer 350 gr for practice, CEB 325 gr HP Raptor & 350 gr Solid.
I tried AR 2209 (H4350), VV N160 & AR 2213 SC (H4831 SC)
I found the AR 2213 SC (H4831 SC) gave stiff recoil & velocity was lower than the other loads.
Like Tanzan I was able to get up to 2840 fps with TSX 350 gr & AR 2209 (H4350) but the recoil was a bit stiff. I dropped the charge by 4 grains and got 2750 fps. I am now driving the 410 & 400 gr bullets at 2400 to 2550 fps max.
The key is my ability to shoot confidently and accurately without worrying about recoil, flinching, controlling the rifle etc.
After practicing with around 300 rounds I can now shoot 5 inch groups rapidly off hand & 3 inch groups rapidly off sticks - at 50 meters . Bench groups at 100 meters are around 1.5 inches but I rarely use this rifle on a bench.
The cases fall out easily & there is no flowing forward of the brass & I have not had to trim any brass even after 4 or 5 reloads.
