Bear KodiakMagpro is the powder for the 270WSM. I would try that first and RL-19 next. Many others have good results with RL-22, W760, H4831, and AA3100.
My best loads are 72.5gr Magpro with 140gr Accubond.
71.0grn of Magpro with 140gr TSX.
66.0grn RL-19 with the 130grn Scirocco
I use WLRM primers and Remington brass.
Start low and work up.

Mighty PeaceFor my two Tikka T3 LS 270WSM's - 140gr Accubonds with Retumbo is the powder for me. Federal 215 primers. One shoots a COMPRESSED LOAD, the other 2 grains less. Under 0.4" 5 shot groups with avg 3260ft/sec
MAG PRO, H1000, 7828SSC and WS 780 (its what Winchester Supreme using in their ammo for the 270WSM 140gr AB's) are other powders to look at.
My reloads work great. LOve this caliber / bullet combo. All 1 - shot kills - double lung complete pass-thru penetration on elk/moose/Alberta Whitetails and mulies/bears @ various distances.
Almost prefer hunting with this rifle. I have 2 b/c my wife took over the first one so I bought another for me!
Second the Reloader 19 and scirocco

Czech_MadeFor my Winchester 70 @ 270 WSM I load IMR4350 behind HNDY 140 BTSP and RL19 for 150 HNDY SST. The 130 HNDY SST I did not figure out yet, but those two loads punch under an inch groups @ 100 yards.

Walter ProciukI cannot match factory ammunition velocities with any load I have concocted. They cannot match my accuracy. IMR 7828 works in my with all bullet weights from 130 to 150 grain. I use Lyman data.

2ndtimerDon't forget Vihta Vuori N-165, especially if your budget is unlimited. (It runs $35 a lb locally here.) Decent results with Reloder 19 and IMR-4350 with the 130gr and 90gr bullets. Magpro and perhaps Ramshot Magnum should both work well with the 140 and 150 gr bullets, but N-165 gave me the best results with my .270WSM.
Due to its price, though, I am now loading with Accurate Data 86 extruded powder. Decent performance from the bulk 3100 powder at about $10 per lb delivered when I bought it a few years back.
Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

Donald Nelson69.5 grains of Retumbo and 150 grain Nosler BT's shoot one hole 3 shot groups out of my Rem 700. Change to 150 Partitions and same powder charge and I am still under 3/4 inch at 100. The NBT's took two white tails out this year. One at 300 yards the other at 200.

45-70 shooterW 780 is the powder for this cartridge, specifically designed for it and loaded in factory ammo.
When I had one, best groups came with 150 Combined Technology (now Ballistic Silvertips), max loads of 780 and federal magnum primers.
This was in a Benelli R1.

Walter ProciukOne of the problems I have with MagPro and Winchester 780 is that they are ball powders that don't work the same in cold Canadian weather. I suspect a 250 fps reduction in velocity in 25 or 30 below weather. This is often the best time for trophy hunting up here.

az rancherBe very cautious with magpro. I had to pound the bolt open at 2 grains above the starting load. Only powder that hasn't gone to the max easily.
as always ymmv Fred

Savage_99I tried Magpro when it came out in a 270 WSM with 140's. The maximum load was full velocity however the case life was short with expanded primer pockets.
I put it away and used RL22 in the 270 & 7mm WSM's. I tried RL17 however it was no better.
Then the supposed lack of temperature sensitivity of H4350 got my interest and that's what I load now in the WSM's, 30-06 & 300 Mags.
Get the 'power' or optic that your eye likes instead of what someone else says.
When we go to the doctor they ask us what lens we like!
Do that with your optics.

DoublessIn the unlikely event you have some of the DP 85 powder, here is what I got from Scott yesterday, the ballistician at Western Powders:
Speer 130 GS: 57.6 to 64 grains DP 85
Speer 150 GS: 55 to 61 grains
With Fed 215s, DP 85 shot to half MOA with Speer 165 GS in the 300 WSM Tikka I loaded for. I see no reason why it shouldn't work equally well in the 270.
