I say if you want a hotter load, get a bigger gun!

You can't turn a 308 Win into a 300 UM!

I'd rather be safe than sorry!

I once developed a .308 load using H380 and the Sierra 165-grain HPBT that gave 2800 FPS from a M70 with 22" barrel. There were no signs of excessive pressures in the bolt action. But the load was too hot for use in a M99 Savage. Gave poor extraction. Had to drop the load 3 grains for the Savage.
