22/250 load
This evening I loaded 20 rounds of the following 22/250 load:

55 grain Sierra HPBT
39.5 grains of H380
Federal brass
Federal 210 primer
Overall length: 2.44"
Crimped with Lee Factory Crimp Die

I'll shoot these in a Savage Model 12 - heavyweight barrel, blue (not stainless), composite stock, pillar bedded, and free-floated barrel.

That 55 gr bullet with powder charges of between 38 and 41 gr. of H380 has sometimes given me 5-shot groups of 1" or less at 200 yards, but also sometimes groups that are larger than 2" at that distance.

I shot this load alot when I owned one.

55 grain winchester soft point
41 grains of H-414
cci #250 primer
Winchester brass

it always shot around 1/2" at 100 yards and the velocity was right at 3750 fps.
I shot alot of varmits with it and made some very long shots using this combo....

The best load for my 22-250 is 32.6 grains of Benchmark, 55 grain Sierra HPBT bullets and Federal 210M primers.
I tested about every powder available and Benchmark was the best, followed closely by Varget, 35.5 grains with the same bullet.
The benchmark load shot 3 shots into a 1/4" group at 100 yards. the Varget load grouped 3/8" for 3 shots. Unfortunately, H-380 didn't do well in my rifle. It did shoot very well in a couple of older 22-250's I did own in yesteryear. I like metering H-380 through the measure. 38.0 grains of H-380 was my load back then.
I use a 36x benchrest scope for developing loads, along with a good front and rear rest.

And best yet about the Benchmark, it burns very clean!

Just another load that shot 1/4" in my rifle was 36.3 gr of imr 4064 with win. brass and large rifle primers. 380 was a very close second.....will have to give benchmark a try.
