back when I shot metallic silhouettes, I liked Accurate 2460 in my 14" TC with 150 gr SP bullets.

Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

for accuracy?

Rl 7, IMR 4198, or the best for accuracy...SR 4759...lower velocity, but closer to the original MVs when the round was first introduced..

I've only ever loaded IMR3031 in the 30-30.

But if I couldn't get it my next choice would be WW748

I like varget, blc 2, 3031, big game, imr 4064. Those powders shot good groups in my gun. Am always lookin for a new load.

Try RL15 and a 170 Hornady. It has worked in all of them I've shot, in my old 94 with a peep, I could embarrass a lot of bolt rifles.

Imr 8208 XBR and Hornady 160 gr FTX. Most accurate handload I ever found for my Marlin 336.

IMR-4064 with 170 gr bullets has been very accurate for me.

My old 94 likes the standard, 31 grains of IMR 3031 with a 150 grain bullet.
Very accurate and plenty of thump for the old 30/30.

My 30-30 is not very picky, shoots both 4895s well, BLC2 was very good, but the last load I worked up, was CFE223. Consistantsy shoots under an inch with 160 grain Leverrevolutions.

About any powder that's blackish and grainy..The old 30-30 isn't all that particular. I like H380, RL-7, IMR 3031, & RL-15 to name just a few.

I have a few cans of Lever Revolution I intend to try..The CFE 223 is getting the best velocity but I found out they get that by uping the pressure a bunch!! Tricky these powder companies! Roll Eyes

I tried the lever Revolution, worked up to 37.0 grains and stopped because accuracy was so good. CCI 200 primer and 150 gr. Speer FN. Mild pressure, possibly 2300 fps and the old Marlin never shot this good before.

Some people like VV N133. I am giving it a spin with 100 grain spitzer bullet.

I started loading 30-30 in 1966 with 3031 and never saw any reason to change.

I've mostly used 3031 but have always wanted to try the Leverevolution powder. For those who have, what kind of velocity are you getting especially with 170 grain bullets?

Since my last post on this thread I've tried TAC with 150 grain Sierra bullets and I am very impressed with the accuracy.
Recently shot a 5 shot 50 yard open sight group of .89" with good speed so I may switch to TAC.
The load was 32 grains of TAC, 150 grain Sierra .308", WW cases and Fed primers.
I've not tried any or the Levereveloution powders or bullets.

I like H335 with the heavier bullets, like the Hawk 190 (but with the .025" jacket) Don't remember the charge right now and never got to kill anything with them.

Which one of these loads gives the highest velocity with the lowest pressure?

There's a reason duPont named the powder 3031; it's for the 30-30; and if you forget the load, it's either 30 or 31 grains.

Right on...My absolute best velocity has been with H-380 in both the 30-30 and 25-35 and you can get 2300 plus very easy..My go to loads for both were cut back a grain or two to get me 2275 FPS and better case life that goes with having to full length resized as both of my guns are 94 Win. SRC from days long gone by..

I found CFE223, ww-748, and Leverevolution equally as good..IMR-3031 has seen its better days.. I used it for years as did everyone else, but its itchy when you get up around max, so is 4064 and 4320, go slowly they spike..

The 30-30 is easy to load for..
