Sounds good "in theory", but I will not give up accuracy to squeeze a little more velocity out of anything.

No animal will know the difference in being hit with a 3000 FPS load as opposed to a 3100 FPS load (or whatever numbers apply for a particular load...).



I agree with Gary, I once had a Savage in 708 that would only take a load that one up from the starting point or I'd get that stuck bolt syndrom, 42grs. 760 with 150NBT, chrono'd the round @2300fps, earlier during deer season I shot a deer(spike buck) at about 110 paces through the liver, INSTANT KILL. impact velocity would've been 2100fps, same as a 300yds shot with a normal 46grs 760 loaded to 2700fps, don't need that extra 100, 150 or in my case, 400fps, for shorter range anyway. The load I've got now for that same 150NBTs is 39.5grs. of Varget(41.3grs. max)and it is accurate, 3 out of 5 shots will go in the same small ragged hole, from a less than hot barrel, at 300, 3 shots have went 1.5" from the best of the groups I've shot at that range(avg. about 2")2 groups. It's not so much how hard you hit'em, it where you hit'em, 1800 or 2600fps, they'll both go down, as long as you hit the right spot. Jay

I just bought a 8lb jug of the AA2230-C that is on sale for $54.95 from Natchzess and wondered the same thing. They said you could use AA2460 or 2230 data with it. Looking at the free AA reloading pamplet, it can be used in most of my calibers but might give as high velocity as the 4350 or 4064 (also bought). I was wondering about maybe using it for some cast bullet loads in several calibers. BM
