Best Powder for 405 Winchester??
I have been using Reloader 7 and it is fairly accurate but velocity spreads are a little higher than i care for. My current load is 53.0 with the Remington 210JSP. It is chrono'ing 2400 from the 16" barrel of my competitor (pic below). I am going to work this load up, as it is not max currently, to see if a higher load density helps.

Any help from experience??

I figured you'd given up on the .405 hand cannon by now. How fast is RL7 compared to Varget or H4895? I got good accuracy from both of those and single digit ES.

I was just out today shooting my favorite load. 15.0 gr Unique/half cotton ball/265gr Oregon bullet WNFP @1,400fps from my #1's 24" bbl.
The popgun I had as a kid kicked harder [Big Grin]

I'm stuck at @2,000fps with the 400gr bullets having run out of room for powder I guess I need to move up in burn rate.

Hi Rick, i aint givin up on the 405! [Big Grin] I am working with the 210 grain bullets still. I am gonna ramp the load up to Ken Water's max and see what kind of velocity and accuracy i get there. If this doesnt work out, i am tryin AA2015 next. The following is from a "burning rate chart that i found on the net....

IMR-4198
H-4198
XMR-2015
Reloader 7
N134
IMR-3031
Benchmark 1
N-201
H-322
Benchmark 2
AAC-2230
IMR-4895
H-4895

H-335
BL-C(2)
AAC-2460
W-748
Reloader 12
N135
IMR-4064
Varget

If all goes well this thing will be in the stand with me on opening morning along with a 12" contender 414 Super MAg and maybe a 444 Marlin rechamber of a 14" contender barrel! [Big Grin]

BTW, the 444 Marlin in a 14" barrel, 4198 has given the highest velocities! AA2015BR is runnin a close second but the groups with 2015 are killer! [Big Grin] If i could settle down a little, i think it would punch a ragged hole! [Big Grin]

That list above is fastest to slowest.
