.223 Remington Bullet PLHP, 50 grain Load
Anybody been loading this Remington Bullet? Supposed to be pretty accurate.

I just loaded a bunch with Ball-C(2) and if the weather will cooperate I hope to get to the range friday to test them. I tried them once before in Savage FP-10.223 with mixed results but the new CZ I have shoots rings around the Savage and likes the lighter bullets better. With cheap Win. white box 55 grain SP and 50 gr. Vmax commercial reloads it can do under an inch at 200 if the winds not too bad. The Savage never did that well. The local varmint shooters recommended it to me so I got a bunch.

I've used the 55 gr version and it was very accurate in my .223 Savage with H-335 or W-748 powders.

Fired 50 rounds at the 100 yard range yesterday. All were the same load of thrown Ball-C(2) starting load. Groups were about 50% larger than the factory white box Winchester 55's I used as a control but still hovered near the 1" mark. The range closed at 5pm and near the end of shooting groups shrank to under an inch as the wind subdued. So the little 50 grain pills seem a bit more wind sensitive. My impression is they are not quite as accurate as my favorite V-max bullet but not bad. I also noticed the impact dust clouds from the backstop were larger with the Remington bullet suggesting an explosive nature.

Either 24 of 3031 or 25 of H335 will do half-minute in nearly any of my rifles. I load to 2.20". They're not max but of useful velocity.
