9.3x57 Loads anyone???
I posted this on Medium Bores and even the Wildcat section to see if someone might come across the thread. I have searched the web for some loads for the 9.3x57 and have managed to come up with a few. I've got a Husky large ring 98 so chambered and thought I would work some up. Anyway, I am debating on using the 250 Nosler but my only concern is it opening at the low velocities the round turns up, or the 270 Speer and I have the same questions. Maybe the light jacketed Hawk bullets are the way to go. I would like to hear from someone on AR that has experience with the round and make my decision from there. Thanks.

Doug,

I wouldn't get too concerned with tad less fps you're gonna get outa a 9.3x57 vs. 9.3x62.

I've tried pretty much every available 9.3 bullet in both 9.3x62 & 9.3x74R and don't push the envelope when loading either cartridge. IMO they kill better when plunking along as opposed to being Hot Rodded.

A couple of the best bullets IME have been the Nosler 250 gr. BT's (now Accubonds) and the Speer 270 gr. SP.

I've loaded these bullets at '62 starting load levels and that's probably where you'll be with the '57. Both of these bullets perform just fine.

Cheers,

I should add 52.0 gr of the same is what Ive settled on with the Speer 270 grain and am enjoying good accuracy with both loads

Dopeydave has it right. Both the 270 grain Speer and the 286 gr Privi Partizan are the perfect bullet for the short 9.3. The others will work however, at the velocities we're discussing the Privi is probably closest to being "made for" that round. It even has the appropriate cannelure for 9.3 x 57. The 250s are OK but you really don't get enough additional velocity to extend the practical range or capability of the round.

It'll never be a hot rod, so heavy and slower is better. The exception would be the 320 gr Woodleigh as it is constructed to be a little tougher. Probably still kills well within 100 yds but starting velocities are so slow I'd be hesitant to use it all the time.

My 9.3x57 load is 285gr Privi , 47gr imr 4895.

Ive also used 270 speer and 232 norma bullet

Ive used 3031 and h335 also.

4895 is my favorite and most accurate with 285s

I neck up ww 8x57 brass. I neck size only so the new case has a slight crush fit in the chamber with that small shoulder on the 9.3x57 otherwise youll have backed out primers
