Help! reloader 22, Ruger #1, 300 win mag
Hi there

I have a new ruger #1 stainless in 300 win and I also have reloder 22 powder. I'm looking at loading 3 bullets with this powder. here is what I think I'll load
75 grains for 200 gr. Nosler Partition
80 grains for 168 gr. Hornady A-max
85 grains for 110 gr. Hornady

I'll work them up but I'm thinking these will be about max loads. Although I've been told that the falling block design is very safe.

Any comments/help

My comment is DONT!!...You are a little over max on the 168gr. A-max.
And being on a new rifle, you are living a little bit dangerously, my friend.
Back that RL22 off about 3gr. for the 168gr. anyway. Iam not sure on the others, but they seem a little warm as well.
Cardinal sin...NEVER start any rifle, bullet, powder, at max. load.
It's a bad practice...sakofan..

According to the current Nosler manual you are a bit o/ max:
200gr - 72.5gr
168gr - 79gr

I find the Nosler manaul to be pretty close w/ their max. loadings, but every rifle is different.
RL22 is probably a bit slow for the 110gr bullets. RL19, IMR4831 or 4350 would be more efficient.

bellhender, its good to hear someone with a #1 in 300Win. I just reloaded some 165gr Hornady Interbonds with RL22. I loaded them with 75-77-79-81 grs of RL22. I have them seated .010 of the lands for a OAL of 3.535. Iam hopeing to get some time to shoot, I miss my #1, havent shot much, got a new M700 VS in .308 to play with. Anyway, I will try to get back here to give out some info on how the Interbonds shot... [Cool]

bellhender...Well I got time to try those 165gr Interbond loads....

75gr....avg velocity 3150 1-3/4 groups
77gr.................3257 1-1/2
79gr.................3396 1-1/2
81gr.................3480 2
I might try and play with bullet seating on the 81gr loads, and give the 79gr loads another try. Iam almost positive brass life isnt going to be long with the hotter loads. I still want a new trigger for the the #1, and the hicks hanger device....come on Christmas! [Smile]

I have a 300 Win in a custom enfield and 75gr RL22 is my max with a 18o gr Sierra. That same load behind a 200gr seems a little hot to me with that much more bullet.FWIW
