Loads for .223 Ackley Improved
I'm still shooting up the regular .223 loads I have on hand to fireform .223 AI cases and am trying to find reloading data for the .223 AI. Any suggestions will be welcome. Does any reloading manual have the .223 AI in it? Thanks.

I don't have a 223 AI, but I do shoot a 222mag AI. Due to the lack of load data, I contacted the person that made the barrel for me and then looked at load data for the 222 Mag.

The AI will perform OK with approx. 5-7 % more powder for a listed bullet.

I have loaded 50gr bullets with up to 1.5 to 2 grains over the max. for the 222Mag, with no signs of excessive pressure. Primer pockets are still tight and very little change in case length from the trimmed length.

That may be the only avenue you have unless Ackley has reloading data for your round.

OUt of my 15" contender barrel, my velocities are very near 22-250 with the same bullet weight, but less powder.

Good Shooting,

HL
