.308 Win Loads for an AR-Type Rifle
Just got a DPMS Recon AR-10 type semi-auto with a 16" barrel in .308 Win. Looking for loads for 150-168 grain bullets using H4895, IMR4064, or RL-15 powders. Need loads that are of moderate velocity but will still effectively cycle an AR-type rifle. Thanks.

I use 44 point something for a 168 grain BTHP. The cases are Federal, primers are Winchester.
This a very accurate load in my AR10t out to 500 yards.

Thanks, Bill.

Sorry about that, IMR 4064.
I got the load from an old NRA National Match shooter.
He used Winchester brass.

Don't have anything with your powders, but: I have an Armalite AR10 in .308, these are my top two loads. I am not a Hornady bullet fan, but these will out shoot the Sierras 168's in my rifle.

TOP 2 LOADS: 46.5 BLC2, 168 Hornady Match HP, Federal Match Primer, Lapua brass 4shots .362” 5th .868” 07-12

TOP 2 LOADS: 43.5 Varget, 168 Hornady Match HP, Federal Match Primer, Lapua brass
5 shots .562” 07-12

Side note BLC2 meters much better.

I was running 41.0 of H4895 under a 150 gr. Sierra HPBT Match ignited by CCI 200 primers in Lake City Match brass (can recall case or cartridge O.L.).

Exceptional accuracy (three shots in one ragged hole at 100 yrds), and it it didn't beat the hell out of the gun.
