I was looking for a .270 load with 130gr Speer Sptz. I found 59.5gr of 4831,w/ fed mag primers works well. Anyone know of any other super accurate loads? Also, tricks that might help dial in this rifle. Thanks.

In the 270 Win with 130 gr. Sierra SBT both 54 grs of IMR 4350 and 58 grs of RL 22 do well. I am using CCI Br2 primers in almost everything.

Besides the actual load the case prep and seating matter also. What are your dies? Do you know your runout?

Tell us how it shoots now.

My REM700 isn't very picky ... it shoots several loads very well. 60/H4831SC, 57/IMR4831, and 59/RL22 pushing a 130 grain Sierra Spitzer (Rem cases/WLRP) will all shoot 1 MOA if I do my job. Ben

Thanks for the input guys. I am using Forrester dies, Win cases, CCI&Fed LR primers, and 130gr Speer Sptz. It is shooting pretty good with 59.5 of 4831, just wanted to really get it dialed in the way I've heard it could be. I cant remember my seating depth, I have it a little of the lans since I hunt in cold weather. What did you mean by runout?

I have two loads that shoot really well out of my 270 A-bolt. Speer GS 150gr bullets in front of 54 gr. of IMR4831, WLR primers, RP cases, col 3.240". and Hornady SST 130gr. bullets in front of 57 gr of H4831sc, WLR primers, Win cases.

I have heard this term several times and it is time I know what you are refering to.

By bringing up the topic of runout what I really ment to say is that just the loading data is not all there is to accurate handloads. As you can see now there are many loads listed and one may be as good as another as rifles vary.

Runout means that something wobbles when it's turned. If you roll your cartridge across the table and the bullet tip seems to wobble then it has a certain amount of runout.

Since this is a reloading forum it has members who go all out to make sure every thing is perfect. Thus we measure the bullet runout on fancy devices even though it does not matter much until the ranges get long.

Your better off however with an extra pair of boots or firing another box for practice.

Mramsey10, the Speer is a good deer and antelope bullet. It performs a lot like the Nosler Ballistic Tip, but doesn't have to be seated quite as deeply in the case in order to fit in the magazine. I have owned 3 .270s, and all would easily handle 60 grains of H4831 or H4831SC in WW cases with this bullet.

It's hard to beat H4831 and 130 grain bullets. Classic O'Connor load. My 700 Mountain rifle shoots REALLY well with 59.5 grains and Nosler ballistic tips.

My 700 sendero shoots 58.5 grains of H-4831 and a 130 grain bullet with the fed 210 match primer in a 3/4 inch hole at 100 yards. the guy that I bought the rifle from could bump holes with it. I haven't shot it but about 20 times so hopefully after I get used to it I can do the same.

Thanks for the responses gentlemen. I found that 59.5 of 4831 with 130gr works great. Also, 50 of 4350 with 150's works beautifully as well. Now, I just need to work my 300 wsm issues

When I hunted with a .270, I started at .58.0 gr H-4831. It shot "ok". I worked all the way up to 60 grains. I could see no difference in accuracy.
I pushed the envelope a little by using the 58.0 grain load for 130 and 150 gr bullets.

try 52.5 to 54grs of h-414 and a cci-250 primer, shoots great in every .270 I've tried. You can also try 59grs of H-450, but it has been discontinued.

Reloader 22 @ 61.0
Fed 210 GM primers
Fed Prem Cases

150 Nosler Part RL 22 @ 58.0 (Heavy Game load)

I have been reloading the .270 for years and found that 52.0 grs of IMR4350 hard to beat with any 130 gr bullet in my rem 700.the seirra 130 shoots the best.

I had good luck with 63.5 gr of H-1000 and 130 gr spitzers, and it is an "Extreme" powder (not sensitive to temperature changes.)

I don't think you need magnum primersw in a 270.

Here's one that no one mentioned, and since it shoots 1/2" MOA for me, it's worth mentioning:

130 grain Sierra FB
46.5 grains of IMR 4064
Winchester Brass
CCI # 200 primers

I seat the bullets 0.10 off the rifling and have had good results using Remington # 9 1/2 primers with this combination too.

I always use the CCI-250 magnum primer when i use ball powder.
