This load has been accurate in 3 different thompson contenders 1 16inch and 2 14 inch

for the ar's throw a crimp on.it's not the fastest but accurate.
[ 03-27-2003, 12:49: Message edited by: ty ]748 is a great powder for the .223. A friend of mine has the same gun. He couldn't get it to shoot. I have a philosophy that any gun will shoot if you are willing to take the time to fool with it. We took it to the range where I set up my portable loading stuff (10-10 scales, partner press with c-clamps, etc) in the range house. He shot while I loaded and kept records. I found out that day that primere make a big(!) difference. We found one load that would shoot great with 748 and a winchester primer. It threw the same load with other primers all over the paper. Now the first thing I change in load development is primer selection. Looks like you have hit the nail on the head with your load. Good work.

<fortune>My win 70 Doesn't like/wont shoot 748.
It likes H4895 x 26.5grains>>>55Grn Sierra GK bthp.
It's near the top!!
Everything thing it has hit has been chopped down on the spot.
My Ruger #1V loves 28 Gr. 748 under a 40 Gr. V-Max.

Calif HunterI've used the exact same load (assuming you are talking about the 55 gr Rem Powerlokt HPs) with great success in my Savage. I've also used 27 gr with the 50 gr TNT HP. Another favorite powder, using about 1 grain more, is H335. I like the way the ball powders flow through my measure.
