.358 win
For 220 gr speer 49 gr of IMR 4320 is the ticket. All three shots usually touch at 100 yds from my Mannlicher. 48gr for 225gr bullets.

Thanks lynn, I will try it. That seems to be the powder I have most of for the 358.

I like IMR4320 in my Sako 358. I can't remember the exact charge, but it's somewhere around 49 to 49.5 grains. I also like the Sierra 225 BTSP.

.358
The best powder I ever found for the .358 was AA2015br,no longer made.(would like to find some) I shoot a blr81 with 20"bbl so I've been looking for a replacement. So far this is what I've found 47/3031/200 hornady = 2520 next 54/748/225 = 2460 next 53/748/250speer = 2370 I have used the .250 grn load the most for black bear and it puts them down on the spot !

RL-10 seems to burn a little faster than IMR 3031 or maybe about the same but it's of finer grain and more will go into a case like the .358 Win.

I like 180 Speer Flat Points for deer and black bear and I just tried some RL-10 in the 99F. I started at 45.0 grs and chronographed velocities from 2616 fps and worked up to a very high velocity and I still had no real pressure signs that I can see. Extracton, head expansion and even web thinning on this rear locking lug rifle was not a problem at all.

The brass for this rifle is now made from military 30-06 cases as it has .003" headspace over the go gage which is about the field gage. Primers were WLR and Fed 210M's.

Another test a couple of days ago got good groups again and 2716 fps with 48.0 grs. The next test is at 48.5 grs.

All of my .358's are 99F's or a collectors item M 70 so I am not going to push it and anyway this bullet at 2700 drops deer right there.

If I had a Ruger however I might use the drop tube like I did for test loads and there could be over 2800 fps available from this combination.
