Ol Bull44 Spl Ruger Blackhawk and 240 XTP ?
I've been shooting 240gr lead over 6gr of 231 and love it. I picked up a bunch of 240 XTP's that i'd love to shoot out of it. Does anyone have a load to share?

aliveinccI went old School w/ my 44sp. Unique for everything. Verify 7.5g for the 240g xtp.

N E 450 No27.5gr of Unique is a great load for 240gr hard cast or jacketed bullets in the 44 Special.
I just checked a couple of my old Speer loading manuals and they showed the following. With 240gr jacketed bullets:
Unique; Starting load 6gr for 831fps, MAX load 8gr for 1064fps.
2400; Starting load 14gr for 1019fps, MAX load 16gr for 1174fps.
WARNING WARNING this is with the OLD 2400, many people report the NEW made 2400 is a little faster, so start low and work up.
These velocities were from a 6 1/2" S&W Mod 1950 Target.
I just acquired another .44 Mag and this one is a smal one compared to my Rugers. My intent was to shoot a 240 LRFN at about 1000 fps or so. My go to loads for 90% of my .44 shooting has always been either 7.5 or 10.0 grains of Unique.
Well, its ben a few years since I have done much revolver shooting so I had no Unique on hand. But, I did have Unversal nad Power Pistol. I tried 10.0 grains of PP behind that 240 and shot two back to back 2" groups offhand at 25 yds.
I like it so much that I will be attenuating the load accordingly to be used in my Ruger .44 spl flattop. I recon 7 to 7.5 grains.

aliveinccEither Pierce or Venturino loves Power Pistol in the 44 sp. It uses similar amounts as Unique, but operates at lower pressure--from what I have read.

Yeah, I like the PP loads but then again it is hard to go wrong with Unique. There is a reason it is more than 100 years old.
