We are a 260 Rem family, having 3 Remingtons. Looking for favorite accurate handloads for varmints or deer.

grk40x40I owned a 260 Rem. for about a year. Loved the caliber but not the rifle. I bought it to close to hunting season to work up a good load so i got 1 box of Rem. 140gr. core loct factory ammo. Would shoot 3/4" 3 shot groups all the time.

RiverRatYou might try the following loads for deer and varmint. They work very well for me. All the following loads use match prepped Remington brass. The rifle is a 1967 Rem. 700 action that has been trued. The barrel is a #6 contour Krieger 1 in 8 twist finished at 24".
Varmints:
90 gr. Speer TNT
45gr. of IMR 4064
Federal 210M primer
3460 fps avg. velocity
This load will average sub .5 MOA for 5 shots off the bench in my rifle. It is very hard on coyotes. Definetly not easy on the pelt, big exit hole!
Deer:
120 gr. Sierra ProHunter
41.4 gr. of IMR 4064
Federal 210M primer
3007 fps avg. velocity
This load will average in the mid .5' for five shots from my rifle and works very well on deer. RL-19 is another powder that works pretty well with 120 gr. bullets.
Deer/Hogs:
140 gr. Sierra SBT GameKing
42. gr. of H4350 EXT
CCI BR-2 primer
2740 fps avg. velocity
This load easily shoots sub .5 MOA for 5 shots at 100 yards. I have never seen a 260 that wouldn't shoot very well with somewhere between 41.6 and 43 gr. of H4350 EXT. I am sure somewhere out there a 260 exists that wont shoot well with that powder and a 140 gr. bullet, but I have never been around one that didn't like it. None of loads listed above are maximum loads in my rifle. As always start lower and work up slowly.
I hope this helps some.
