220 Swift Loads
I need some of your favorite loads for a Ruger Sporter M77 tang safety in 220 Swift. I'll be shooting chucks, yotes and crows.
Thanks, Mark

The first of the tried and true would be the 38 4064 and a Sierra 55, or same bullet with H414 and about 41-42 grains. If neither of these shoot, sell the rifle.

I use WW cases with F 210 primers

38 grains 4064. 52 grain sierra HPBT ( #1410)

I've never been really pleased with it, but it works OK in a variety of conditions

My favorite is Sisk .223" diameter 55 gr. "Express" bullets with 39, 40, or 41 grains of any 4350. Oh, and Winchester for both brass and primers. (And one of my Swifts IS a pre-warning Ruger M77-V flat-bolt with tang safety.)

Keep away from the really light bullets to help extend barrel life. 55gr is a good load that can be handled by just about any available twist rate in a 220 Swift barrel.

Just noticed this thread.
My current and long time load out of the identical rifle you are useing is:
37.5 grains 4064
Sierra 53 grain Spitzer
Norma Brass
federal magnum rifle primers
My rifle would not shoot a boat tail but it will drive tack with the spitzer. I am currently working on another load with 55 grains Barnes TSX soilds. So far I have shot three song dogs and really liked the results. I am about ready to re barrel the swift and may change the twist to handle the 55-60 grains TSX if they show to be as accurate as the spitzer.
