204 Loads with 40 grain bullets: What works for you?
I see many of the 204 shooters are using the 32 grain bullets, I am looking for some help with accuracy loads with 40 grain Hornady bullets. If you have a proven load I would appreciate some help. I have a Remington LVSF and very little experience with the 204. Thanks JBOK

I've loaded 29gr of BLC(2) using Fed. GM205M primers for my son in laws Savage and they shoot very well. Much more accurate than the factory Hornady stuff.

If you don't want to share loads, how about what powder are working for you for accuracy with 39 & 40 grain bullets?

27.5 grains of Accurate2520 and the 39 grain Sierras. If it doesn't work I'd be surprised! As far as the 40 grain VMAX's go, I gave them all away! I've never seen but one 204 that preferred the 40 grainVMAXs and shot them decently.............it was one of the Model 7 synthetics and it liked the Hornady factory 40 grain load. Now that load posted at the begining of this post, by the same token, I've never seen or encountered a .204 that didn't do spendidly with that load!! Now getting a supply of the 39 grain Sierras may be tough!GHD

Hornady also made a 33 grain VMAX that was exceptional for accurracy but they discontinued it back in 2005 or so. If they'd reintroduce it, I am sure they could sell millions of them instantaneously! GHD

Groundhog D.: I appreciate the help. I have a pound of 2520 and am getting to the end of my 40 gr Hornandy's. I have not tried the 39 gr. Sierra's but will give them a go. Thanks for a starting place. Very much appreciated. JB
