Looking for loads for my Rem. 7600. Primarily, will be used for deer, up to abou 250 yds. I'd appreciate whatever you have to offer.

I have used the 200 grain roundnose Remington with success. I have some 180 grain Barnes X's to try this year. I use remington cases and H4831.

I use 54. grains. I did not chrono the load but think it should be around 2600 fps. Not a high pressure load but very accurate-- .98 at 100 yards from my remington 7600.

IMR 3031 all you need to know.

I'm listening. What do I need to know about it. I was looking more towards Rl-15 because I have several pounds already, but I'm willing to try something different.

RL15 should work fine with 200s, it's good with 250 grain bullets. I haven't shot 200s in my whelen, but am getting good accuracy and velocity with 250 grain bullets and IMR4895 which is a pretty flexible powder.

I've had good results with max loads (Alliant's load of 61 gr) of RL-15 in my Ruger with Hornady and Remington 200 gr spire points. It produced the best accuracy and velocity.

Varget and H4895 also produced very good loads but their sweet spots were narrower in my rifle. If I couldn't get any more RL-15, I would be content with either of these.

Thanks Mike, that's just what I wanted to hear. I've got a bunch of 200's loaded with different charges of RL-15 I hope to try out in the next few days. I'll let you know how it goes.

57-58gr.of 3031 with 200gr works for me

I use R15 alot in both my .35 Whelen's from 57.5gr with a 250gr bullet; to 58.5 with a 225gr; and 61gr with a 200gr. Spt. or RN. (One rifle I have is a Rem 7600 and the other a Mark X action bolt.) Of all the powders I've tried, RL15 seems to work the best all-around for accuracy and velocity! The only problem I've found with the powder is that it seems to vary from Lot to Lot more than some other brands. Other powders that shoots well in my rifles with 200gr bullets are: AA2520, Win748, and IMR4064.

LOL! I'm wondering what loading manuals I am looking at since the few I have do not list a load of RE15 that high for 250 grain bullets.

I do see loads for 200-225 gr. bullets that max out at 59-60 grains of RE15. Would someone please point me to their load data?

The Barnes #3 reloading manual lists for the .35 Whelen a max of 62.0gr of RL15 for their 200grXFB bullet. I worked up a load of 61.0gr with a 200Spt. Hornady with a OAL of 3.250. This length puts the bullet quite a bit further out than the "crimping groove", but kicks the bullet out at about 2750 with no pressure signs. My Mark X likes the load, but my 7600 does not. I've found little info in other loading manuals regarding RL15 other than Nosler, which shows a much reduced loading (as is most of their .35 Whelen loads). I don't have their "newest" manual yet, but hope they use a different gun for their tests. The "cited" Reloaders (Alliant) pamphlet lists their RL15 data, but I have never been able to get to 59.5gr with a 250gr spitzer without encountering pressure problems. I have reached ther recommended max with 225gr bullets, but accuracy seems to come a couple of grain below their max (I might not have the right bullet yet!). Finn Agaard published some of the first tests with RL15 in the Whelen, which I found to be very useful and "right on"(common with the late, great Finn).

Tried 60-62gr. RL-15 and settled on 60 for the best accuracy so far. Still going to try between 58-60gr. and see if it gets any better. 60gr. got me about 1.5" 3 shot groups @ 100yds. Almost time to hit the range and get serious here.

my whelen is twisted 1:16 and really only likes the short stumpy bullets,180s to 200s,I read somewhere or another that IMR 4064 was a highly recommended powder fot this round,took a few out to the range and was impressed with the accuracy.............
