I was wondering if anybody would be interested in posting some of their favorite 45 LC loads.
I have just shot my Blackhawk after a trip to Cylindersmith and am excited now. I shot factory 250 gr. from Venator Labs in Cheyenne Wy but they are now out of business I believe. Anyway i am ready to start reloading but would appreciate some of your recipes.

Depends on which handgun I'm shooting. If I'm working with my S&Ws I'm using 9.5 grains of Unique, WW LP primers, who ever's cases, a 250 grain Saeco SWC, sized .454, LBT Blue.
For my Colt Anacondas the same formula works well but these like a 300 grain Saeco SWC sized .454, WW LP primer 20 grain of H110, Who ever's cases.

In a Ruger or a lever action rifle: 20 grains "lil gun powder, Federal large pistol primers (standard), and a 300 gr. LBT WFN cast bullet, lubed with Apache Blue lube. Accurate and hit's like a sledge hammer. Don't use this in a S&W !

For an everyday cast bullet load, I like the Lyman 454424, sized ..454", 9.0 gr. of Win. 231, and a Rem. 2-1/2 primer. I use a homemade bullet lube that is half moly grease and half beeswax. If I use a jacketed bullet, I like 22.5/Win. 296 and a Fed. 155 primer with the 300 gt. Hornady XTP. My accuracy has gotten much better since I started trimming my cases and using a Redding Profile Crimp die. These loads are safe in a Blackhawk, Contender, and Marlin 1894. Don't use them in a Colt or S&W.

For practice, I like to use the RCBS 45-270-SAA purchased from Mt Baldy bullets in Starline cases, sparked by WLR primers and Titegroup. Just keep upping the charge from 5.5 to 10.5 grains until you find the accuracy which pleases you. Both the 265 gr and 335 gr Cast Performance WFNGC bullets in my 4-5/8" Ruger Blackhawk are extremly accurate and hard hitting. I don't have the 265 gr data available but a max charge of 20 gr of Lil'Gun runs 1150 fps with the 335 gr, took this 62" Ak/Yukon moose this past Sept out on the Seward Peninsula of Alaska.
