molar125-06 100 gr. bt load
I just got back from a trip to the range with my 25-06. The gun is a rem 700 BDL with 24" barrel. I had tried several powder and bullet combos in this gun, but the best I could do on several occasions was 2" @ 100 yds. I was almost to the point of selling it, when I decided to work up a load consisting of a 100 gr. ballistic tip in front of a charge of 52.1 gr. of IMR 4831. I shot a 5 shot group at 100 yds. that measured a little less than .5" from center to center. Just goes to show that each rifle is unique, but I have never encountered a rifle this finicky. BTW, if anyone wishes to try this load, it is a grain or two under max listed by hornady, but as always, you should reduce and work up to it. Have a Merry Christmas.

30378Try 52 to 53 grains of IMR-4350. Use an OAL of 3.23" Your IMR-4831 load seems a little light. The 25-06 enjoys a 95%+ case volume.

dsmit50I load 54 grs. H4831 over 100 sierra boat tail or Matchking. 54 grs. IMR 4831 works great but not as good as Hodgon for me.

BDLDWith my Tikka I'm shooting the 100 grainers with 49.6 of 4831 (WLR primers, 2.35 oal) and am getting groups .246. I loaded up to 52 grains and the groups just kept getting bigger. Can't complain about this load.

Thomas JonesSlightly off Subject here,
But I use 3 shot groups in a hunting rifle.
With a sporter weight barrel in a fast round you get a fair amount of heat.
I like a 1 inch 3 shot group. I have yet to get 5 shots at the same deer...tj3006

390ishI use RL 22 with the Hornady 100 grainer with 57.9 grains of powder. Same load is great for groundhogs and deer. Have never had to shoot an animal twice. I get 5 shot groups that are about 3/4 inch on a factory stainless Remington 700 that has had some trigger work.
