50-110 Winchester
If anyone has some data on the 50-110 Winchester I would appreciate it. I have one being built by D. Turnbull. I have a copy of the chart that was in Handloader a few years ago. Also, if anyone has any pointers/do's and don't I would appreciate that as well. Thanks

FireCaptain:
I've had many original rifles in .50-110 and the standard powerful load was Elmer Keith's: 65 grains of IMR 3031 and a 450 to 465-grain cast bullet. Worked well for me for 20 years. When I divested my Winchesters the express rifles were the last to go! (I used 4198 for the 300 grain bullets as 3031 did not seem to burn well with the lighter projectiles. A bit of toilet tissue may keep the powder next to the primer and always crimp well.
Cheers,
Cal

I have used 80grs of H4350 with a Hawk 450gr bullet. Fills right up to the base of the bullet with no compression.
That is in a pretty heavy Ruger No.1 mind you but was not at all uncomfortable to shoot. Not chronographed either but no pressure signs at all.
This is in an 1886?
