drewhenrytnt.357 mag 140gr
While spring-cleaning I found several boxes of Hornady HP XTP 140gr .357 diameter. I seem to remember purchasing them over 10 years ago and life got complicated and they got buried. My revolver is a Smith&Wesson model 686, 6in.(when I turned 21 instead of getting alcohol, I purchased this handgun). I have shot several whitetails with 110gr Win jhp. I wanted something with more energy without sacrificing too much velocity. I decided on 140gr but never got around to loading. If anyone has or currently loads this bullet in .357 and would like to recommend a starting load, I am all ears.
Ultimately when I wanted a bigger gun, I bought a couple of Ruger .45Colts and later a custom Freedom Model 83 454 premier grade. I still enjoy plinking with the 357 and hunt when opportunity presents itself.

hivelosityI have been working on some xtp loads lately.
125gr 140gr and 158gr.
using imr 4227
min 15gr to 17.8 max for the 140gr xtp.
federal small mag pistol primers.
I am at 16 grains of imr 4227. loaded 15 rounds, I have not shot these across the chrony
yet but at 20 feet out of a smith model 66 4" barrel shot all 15 rounds into a 2" ragged hole.
I will load 50 of these and see how well the load holds up it should be a good one off the sand bags.
