im looking for a good 165 grain load for targit shooting any help. but i will take any advice on .338 loads you have this is my first one

6.5 SWEDEgrizz78, Sorry have not used bullets that light in my .338 Win. I have used the 200gr.,210gr.,225gr., and the 250gr. Nosler BT. and the Par. seem to work good with Fed. brass Fed. primers 215 M, and the powder that worked in the rifle was H-4350. Loads came from the Hodgdon 26th load manual, or you can go to there web site, Welcome to AR.

They make a reliable 160 grainer.
I like to shoot no less than 225`grain bullets in mine but a 165 I am quite sure would be a lot more pleasant to shoot.
I have one of their manuals but its in the shop at the moment.(and its cold here) Or I would go get it.

Calif. HunterMy favorite load, in my Tikka, is a 225 gr Barnes original X-bullet over 72 gr of IMR-4350. Work up to this in your gun from at least a couple grains lower. I get groups just over a half-inch pretty often with this load. Another good one is a grain more powder with a 225 gr Hornady spire point.
The triple shocks kinda change things, but I still feel that if I am shooting a .338 instead of a .300, then I want more bullet weight.
Lightest I've ever used is a 180 Nosler , 61.5 of IMR 4064 is an accurate load in mine also for a 225 projectile I use 58.5 grains of IMR 4064 . They seem to work well for my Browning SS Stalker.

in the 338WinMag
And if you can't find a load using either IMR4350 or RL19
with those bullet weights either rebarrel it or sell it.
Personally I wouldn't bother developing light bullet loads for a 338Mag, that's what smaller caliber (7mm and 30cal) rifles
are for.

thats your opinion if you had all the facts befor spouting off you would know i have good loads for 225grn/250grn bulits im trying to find a liet load that for long rang shooting im trying to flaten it out as much as posable get the facts befor you spout off

hammerdownShort light bullets are not the answer for long range. You need a bullet with a high B.C. that means long and heavy.
But long range to you might be 300 yards. To other this would be chip shot.
Going past 600 to 1000 yards I will take high B.C. with low S.D.
