sam308Need a heavy 300WSM load.
I just recently started reloading and have been using factory loads until now. I'm looking for a good elk load for the 300WSM. Have been using 180gr accubonds in a Winchester factory load and have been happy with the results, but I'm not married to any particular bullet.

Snellstrom165, 168, 180 Barnes TTSX or TSX would be a good bet, Accubonds and Partitions in the same weights are all adequate for the job. So are a lot of other bullets. A 180 grain bullet in a .30 cal is a great combination for elk especially if they are shot where you are supposed to hit them.
Reloader 17, 19 and 22 seem to be very popular powders for the WSM's, thats where I would start.

wfh300 WSM,Fed. 215, 64 grains Rl-17. 180 Nosler E-tip in h-s precision with A 22 inch barrel has been an incredible load on Elk and Deer. Bullets perforance on the animals were significantly improved over either the accubond or the tsx in my experiance. All three are good bullets though. As usual start with a reduced load and work up your own load.

338zmag300 wsm - 180 gr Barnes TTSX, 64.2 gr of R-17 and CCI LR mag primer. It's the only thing so far that shoots in my R 700 (26" barrel). I don't have the data for velocity with me at the moment, but it is over 2900. I may use this on a deer next month.
