AtkinsonRe: To shoe or not to shoe?
Intelligent move on your part, that will save you a lot of shoe leather and make your horse love you! I doubt that anyone of us would like to go barefooted on a hunting trip..

Its a good practice to pull the shoes for several months when a horse in not being used, it gives them a chance to pump blood into the foot and that creates a healthy foot, just be sure they don't chip off to deep, you can do this by keeping them trimmed during that time...
